Corporate Strategy

Algeta’s goal is to be a leading cancer-focused specialty pharmaceutical company based on the development of novel targeted cancer therapies using its unique alpha-pharmaceutical platform. Algeta’s strategy to build value for its shareholders and other stakeholders is based on the following key elements:

Complete the clinical development of our lead product Alpharadin® for the treatment of bone metastases:

Algeta’s clear focus is to bring Alpharadin® to market for the treatment of bone metastases in cancer patients.

Together with our partner Bayer, we are dedicating significant resources to completing the ALSYMPCA phase III study in prostate cancer patients. We will also explore the use of Alpharadin® as a new treatment for bone metastases in other major cancers, including breast cancer and potentially lung and kidney.

Build a strong and productive relationship with Bayer:

Algeta is highly committed to developing a successful cooperation with Bayer to determine the optimal development, manufacturing and commercialization strategy for Alpharadin®. As part of these activities, teams from both companies are working on building a greater understanding of the benefits of Alpharadin® among the medical community to optimize its future market positioning.

Build a successful US commercial operation:

Algeta is committed to making Alpharadin® and all of its other future oncology products available for cancer patients globally.

Not only has the Bayer deal provided Algeta with financial resources to bring Alpharadin® to market, it will also enable the Company to establish its own commercial organization in the USA ahead of the launch of Alpharadin®, following positive phase III results. In this way Algeta can share directly in Alpharadin®’s blockbuster sales potential in the USA as well as benefitting from sales in the rest of the world.

Build a broad pipeline of novel targeted cancer product candidates:

Algeta has developed a number of innovative technologies with the goal of building additional product opportunities based on its alpha–pharmaceutical platform and targeted therapeutic approach for the treatment of cancer. The most advanced research is based on linking the alpha-emitter thorium-227 to tumor-targeting molecules such as monoclonal antibodies.

Algeta plans to invest selectively in this platform over the coming years through in-licensing and/or acquiring technologies and tumor-targeting molecules to build an exciting product development pipeline of alpha-pharmaceuticals.
